Kavya Gowda Assault Case: A violent family dispute involving Kannada television actress Kavya Gowda has taken a disturbing turn in Bengaluru. What began as an internal disagreement allegedly escalated into physical assault, leaving her husband, Somasekhar, stabbed and both admitted to the hospital.
The incident has triggered police action, counter-complaints, and public concern over rising domestic conflicts. As investigations continue, the case has drawn attention not just for the severity of the allegations, but also for the actress’s emotional public statement seeking justice.
Kavya Gowda is a popular Kannada television actress with a strong presence in the regional entertainment industry. She rose to fame through serials such as Radha Ramana and Gandhari, earning recognition for her performances and screen presence.
Over the years, she has built a loyal fan base and remained largely away from controversies. Known for maintaining a private personal life, the current incident marks one of the rare times she has spoken publicly about a personal crisis.
Kavya Gowda is trending after reports emerged that she and her husband were allegedly attacked by close family members at their Bengaluru residence. The seriousness of the allegations, including claims of stabbing and threats, has sparked widespread discussion on social media.
Public interest has also intensified after Kavya gave a strong media statement describing the trauma and demanding legal action. The involvement of multiple relatives and the filing of counter-complaints have further kept the case in the spotlight.
Somasekhar is Kavya Gowda’s husband and a Bengaluru-based businessman. The couple got married in December 2021 and has a young daughter. According to police complaints, Somasekhar suffered stab injuries during the alleged altercation and was rushed to a private hospital.
Doctors have stated that his condition is stable and that he is out of danger. However, the incident has raised concerns over his safety within the family environment.
The incident reportedly took place on January 26 at the couple’s residence. According to the FIR filed by Kavya’s sister Bhavya Gowda, Kavya had called her multiple times in distress, saying she and her husband were being threatened and assaulted.
The complaint alleges that Somasekhar’s brother Nandish, sister-in-law Prema, their father Ravikumar, and another woman named Priya restrained, abused, and physically attacked the couple using sticks and rods. During the altercation, Somasekhar was allegedly stabbed with a knife. Both were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
Preliminary information suggests that long-standing family disputes were at the root of the violence. The couple reportedly lived in a joint family setup, where disagreements over household issues and child-related responsibilities had created tension.
As arguments escalated, the situation allegedly spiralled out of control, resulting in physical violence. Police are investigating whether the attack was premeditated or a sudden outburst during the dispute.
According to the FIR registered at Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station in Bengaluru, the complaint was filed by Bhavya Gowda, Kavya Gowda’s sister, on behalf of Kavya and her husband Somasekhar. The FIR names Somasekhar’s brother Nandish, sister-in-law Prema, her father Ravikumar, and a woman identified as Priya as accused.
The complaint alleges that the accused restrained, abused, and physically assaulted the couple during a heated altercation at their residence. It further states that threats to life were issued during the attack, forcing Kavya to call her sister multiple times seeking urgent help.
Based on the complaint, Bengaluru Police have registered the case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These include provisions related to assault, criminal intimidation, unlawful restraint, and causing physical injury.
Police officials have said that additional sections could be added if further evidence supports more serious charges. The final list of sections will depend on medical reports and witness statements.
Speaking to the media, Kavya Gowda made serious allegations against her relatives. She said, “I am not someone who seeks publicity over trivial issues. My husband was stabbed, and I was assaulted.
This should be punished according to the law. I want justice.” She also alleged threats of sexual violence and said evidence from home surveillance cameras would support her claims.
The incident has reignited debate around unresolved family conflicts and how quickly they can turn violent. It also highlights the importance of legal intervention and protective mechanisms, especially when disputes involve physical safety.
As the investigation continues, all eyes remain on the police findings and whether accountability will follow based on evidence.
