NEW DELHI: A case has been registered in Mangaluru, Karnataka, against a Facebook user named ‘Nichchu Mangaluru’ for allegedly justifying the terrorist attack that took place on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The complaint, filed by a local resident, Satish Kumar, prompted the Konaje Police Station to initiate an investigation. The user has been charged under Sections 192 and 353(1)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, 2023, which addresses the publication of content intended to provoke riots and circulate inflammatory statements via electronic means. According to police reports, the post in question contained provocative and inflammatory language that could potentially disrupt public peace. In the controversial post, ‘Nichchu Mangaluru’ made comparisons between the recent killings in Kashmir and the 2023 Palghar railway station shooting. The user allegedly claimed that if the terrorist responsible for the killings had been publicly hanged, the tragic events in Srinagar would not have occurred. The post also reportedly referenced the actions of a Railway Protection Force officer in the 2023 Palghar incident, in which four people, including a senior officer, were killed. The post was met with severe backlash from social media users, many of whom condemned the inflammatory content. One user commented: “That was also wrong, this is also wrong. No justification required.” Another user criticized the post owner as a coward, stating.
