Delhi HC seeks NTA’s reply on plea alleging ‘Out of Syllabus’ questions

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has sought the National Testing Agency (NTA) response on a petition by a NEET candidate alleging ‘out of syllabus’ question in the entrance examination. The petitioner claimed one question in the physics section was based on ‘radioactivity’ when ‘radioactivity topic’ was not a part of the syllabus for this year’s NEET-UG.

The petitioner also alleged a “manifest error” with respect to another question for which NTA declared the “incorrect option” as the right answer.

A vacation bench headed by Justice Dharmesh Sharma has granted a two-week period for the authorities, including the Centre, NTA, and the National Medical Commission, to submit their responses to the petition.

Identifying as a ‘successful candidate,’ the petitioner argued that their overall ranking had been unfairly affected due to errors made by the NTA. Through advocate Sameer Kumar, the petition emphasized, “Irregularities in competitive examinations, especially those aspiring to become future doctors, must be taken seriously as they perpetuate inequalities, favoring some while disadvantaging those responsible for public health in the future.”

The bench scheduled the next hearing date for July 16, 2024.
