Significance of Shukra Pradosh Vrat

Each Pradosh fast gives different benefits depending on the weekday. The Friday Pradosh Vrat is considered especially powerful for good fortune, marital happiness, and wealth. It is believed that during Pradosh Kaal, Lord Shiva joyfully performs a divine dance on Mount Kailash. Worship at this time is said to remove difficulties and fulfill devotees’ wishes.

Shukra Pradosh Vrat Puja Vidhi (Worship Ritual)

  • Wake up early and take a bath. Wear clean clothes.

  • Take a vow (sankalp) to observe the fast.

  • Prepare the puja area by placing a clean cloth on a wooden platform.

  • Install idols or pictures of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Also place an idol or image of Lord Ganesha.

  • Sprinkle Gangajal around the area for purification.

  • Perform Abhishek of the Shivling at home or in a temple using milk, curd, Gangajal, ghee, and honey.

  • Offer Belpatra (Bilva leaves) to Lord Shiva.

  • Present flowers, prasad, sandalwood paste, rice grains (akshat), incense, and a lamp.

  • Offer makeup items to Goddess Parvati.

  • Worship Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, and Lord Ganesha with proper rituals.

  • During Pradosh Kaal in the evening, bathe if needed and offer water to the Shivling while chanting “Om Namah Shivaya” or the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra.

  • End the puja with aarti and offer food (bhog) to the deities.
