As per the media reports, on the night of January 20–21, Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged fire along the Line of Control (LoC). This incident took place in the Keran sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

The event took place while six personnel from the Rashtriya Rifles were fitting advanced security cameras in Keran Bala to cover the security gaps. Pakistani shooters are said to have fired two rounds with small arms, which provoked the Indian side to retaliate, but the response was measured.

There were no casualties on either side. The Army conducted cordon-and-search operations, suspecting that it was a diversion for infiltration, while security upgrades and tightening continue in the winter months.

This is a Developing story.
