Border tension escalates, one more jawan killed

One more Army jawan was killed and his colleague injured when Pakistani troops opened fire on Saturday on various Indian posts in Rajouri district. More than 42 jawans have been killed since January 2017 in the border shelling between India and Pakistan.Police and Army spokesman said that Pakistani troops opened fire in Chammb sector of Jammu also on Saturday and said that they are opening more and more fronts on the border in the entire J&K. The border shelling from the Pakistani side has increased manifold in the month of July, especially after the Doklam impasse between India and China.  According to the data available, nine soldiers and two civilians were killed while more than two dozen people including jawans were injured in 20 ceasefire violations by the Pakistani troops in the current month of July. Latest reports said that Pakistani troops have opened fire in the Keran sector and in the Naugam sector of Kupwara in North Kashmir on Saturday.

Already thousands of families have been affected by the continued border shelling in the entire J&K and most of the schools along the the border between India and Pakistan have been closed.

Meanwhile, state Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has refuted the recent statement of Dr Farooq Abdullah asking for third party intervention in Kashmir.
