Locals joining militancy in Kashmir

Post Operation All Out, in which the Army neutralised about 210 terrorists in South Kashmir, more than 200 militants are active again, courtesy the local youths who have joined the terrorist ranks. The latest to join in the month of January 2018 is Mannan Wani, who was pursuing PHD in Applied Geology at Aligarh Muslim University. The state government and the security agencies are worried about this new trend of terrorist recruitment in Kashmir. Many new recruits have come from educated backgrounds with high educational qualifications.

A senior police officer told this newspaper that till the end of 2017, more than 130 youths joined militancy.
