ISIS, Lashkar may join hands

Army top commanders in Jammu and Kashmir have confirmed that there are no footprints of ISIS in Kashmir, but the terror outfit may tie up with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) to attack India. General Officer Commanding of 16 Corps, Lt. Gen. R.R. Nimbhorkar told reporters in Jammu that there was a possibility that the ISIS may join hands with Lashkar and other local militant outfits. The Army commander said there were 37 active militant camps across the border and 700 militants are being trained.

Earlier, Director General of J&K Police K. Rajindra Kumar had told the media that there was no presence of ISIS in Kashmir, especially in Srinagar. In the past few months, however, many teenagers have been seen raising ISIS flags in Srinagar. J&K Police intelligence wing said these teenagers are being radicalised by the internet.

After the Paris attack, security has been beefed up in the state and intelligence wings are keeping a watch on the youth who are being lured to ISIS ideology on the internet.
