2 J&K Police Sub-Inspectors Killed, Another Injured in Srinagar Road Accident

Two J&K Police Sub-Inspectors died, and one injured, after a speeding vehicle crashed into a divider in Nowgam, Srinagar; probe underway.

Srinagar: In a tragic incident, two Jammu and Kashmir Police Sub-Inspectors lost their lives, while another officer sustained injuries in a late-night road accident in the Nowgam area of Srinagar.

According to officials, the accident occurred during the intervening night of August 10 and 11, when a speeding KIA vehicle (registration number JK21H-1919) lost control and crashed into a road divider at Tengen Bypass near Nowgam.

Three Sub-Inspectors of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, who were travelling in the vehicle, sustained injuries. All were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. However, two officers were declared brought dead by doctors, while the third is undergoing treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Sl Sachin Verma of 23 Battalion IRP, currently posted at Pantha Chowk, and Shubham Sait of 21 Battalion IRP, posted at Awantipora. The injured officer has been identified as Mastan Singh of 23 Battalion IRP.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
