Pakistani singer-actor Adnan Sami will become an Indian citizen from Friday. The Indian citizenship was granted after he made a representation to the Home Ministry on 26 May requesting for it on humanitarian grounds, Home Ministry officials said.
Sami, who is of Pakistani origin, was born in Britain, and was a Canadian citizen. He has been living in India on visa since March 2001. He was last given a visa extension in October 2015.
The singer had won many hearts with his hit tracks, like “kabhi toh nazar milao” and “lift karade” and since then has given many hits to the Indian audiences. His recent track “Bhar do Jholi” which featured in Salman Khan starrer Bajrnagi Bhaijan had also become a massive hit.
Adnan Sami was thankful to the Indian Government for granting him Indian citizenship, soon after his paper works are completed.
