J&K chief secy gets executive power

Amid bleak chances of government formation in the state by alliance partners People’s Democratic Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party, Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra has empowered the chief secretary and other administrative secretaries with powers of ministers to act promptly in running the administration. Vohra is an experienced hand and has earlier run the administration for 176 days in the turbulent period of 2008 when the People’s Democratic Party had pulled out support from then Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
