Separatist organisations in J&K have told Pakistan not to merge Gilgit-Baltistan as a province with Pakistan, as, according to them, it would amount to the “death” of the Kashmir issue at the international level. In the recent past, there has been a surge in anti-Pakistan statements in the separatist camps in the context of annexing Gilgit-Baltistan as a province by the Pakistan government. The latest protest came from S.A.S. Geelani who wrote a letter to Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday, asking him not to merge Gilgit-Baltistan with Pakistan.
