Newly appointed chairman of J&K Bank, Parvez Ahmad has announced a number of schemes for women in the J&K Bank to promote and nurture their business skills. He has decided that J&K Bank will provide financial assistance to women entrepreneurs at a lower rate of interest to allow them to establish their own business units.
He had earlier announced two new branches only for women customers to be run by women staff in Srinagar and Jammu. He has now decided to enhance the all women branches in various districts in the next phase.
He said that in line with the vision of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to empower women in Jammu and Kashmir, J&K Bank will take all the steps necessary to make such vision a reality in a short span of time. In Kashmir Valley and in the rural areas of Jammu, women empowerment is a far cry right now.
Ahmad while talking to the media said that during his tenure there would be a special emphasis on women empowerment and this will be achieved by giving them financial empowerment.
