Separatists, opposition Press centre for talks

The recent shelling in the border areas in Jammu and Kashmir has brought the Hurriyat leadership and the opposition on the same page, with both parties exhorting India and Pakistan for a “result oriented dialogue”.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani said in a press statement on Friday that a result oriented dialogue for the permanent solution of the Kashmir dispute was needed.

Expressing concern over civilian killings in fresh shelling on both sides of Kashmir, Geelani said that the blood of innocents will continue to spill in entire Jammu and Kashmir if New Delhi will not shed its policy of not holding dialogue with Pakistan and real stake holders of Jammu and Kashmir.

Farooq Abdullah of National Conference said in Kishtwar on Friday that civilian killings and the miseries of people living near the borders on both sides of the divide can no longer be ignored.

He asked both India and Pakistan to stop creating war hysteria and sit on the table to sort out Kashmir by giving space to the aspirations of the people on both sides of the divide.
