Beauty treatments and antiageing procedures should be approached as informed personal choices rather than something to hide or blindly follow, dermatologists said at the We Women Want Conclave, organised by NewsX. During a session on “Ageing on Your Own Terms”, dermatologists Dr Dipali Bharadwaj and Dr Geetika Srivastava, in conversation with moderator Richa Kapoor, discussed cosmetic procedures, skincare, hair treatments and the growing influence of social media on beauty standards.

Dr Bharadwaj said that the stigma around cosmetic procedures is gradually changing, with people becoming more open about treatments such as fillers and other dermatological procedures. She added that there is nothing wrong with choosing to age naturally or opting for treatments, provided expectations remained realistic. “The taboo is not that they got the treatment done. The taboo is that they have aged,” she said, arguing that cosmetic procedures should not be viewed as something shameful.
