Srinagar: In a proactive step to ensure comprehensive emergency preparedness for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2025, Srinagar Police, in coordination with key departments and security agencies, conducted a large-scale mock drill at various strategic locations across the district.
The exercise aimed to evaluate the readiness of all concerned agencies to respond to potential critical incidents during the Yatra and to strengthen inter-agency coordination.
Key Objectives of the Drill:
To assess the effectiveness of emergency response protocols. Â
To evaluate coordination among J&K Police, CAPFs, Fire & Emergency Services, SDRF, Health Department, Ambulance Services, Traffic Police, and Civil Administration. Â
To test the efficiency of communication systems and rescue operations. Â
To monitor real-time response and ensure procedural compliance.
Before commencement, participating teams were briefed on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by Zonal and Sector Officers of J&K Police. Emphasis was laid on real-time monitoring, seamless communication, and coordinated execution.
Preparedness arrangements, including food, shelter, and medical support, were reviewed, with active involvement from CAPD, Revenue, and Health Departments under the unified command of the Joint Police Control Room (Joint-PCR).
The drill simulated multiple emergency scenarios such as road traffic accidents, fidayeen attacks, and law and order situations. Post-drill debriefing sessions helped identify operational gaps and areas needing improvement.
This exercise underscored the district’s commitment to safeguarding the lives of pilgrims and enhancing institutional resilience. Srinagar Police, along with partner agencies, reaffirm their dedication to public safety and a secure Yatra experience for all.
