Arunachal: Chakma-Hajong referundum organised to resolve long standing issue

The Chakma-Hajong Referendum was organised as the people-driven attempt to resolve the long-pending Chakma-Hajong issue that has kept generations in uncertainty.

Referendum for permanent resolution of Chakma-Hajong issue was organised by the people of Chakma-Hajong community at Diyun in Arunachal Pradesh's Changlang district on Friday.

The Referendum is not just an event; it is the voice of a community, a united call for justice, peace, and dignity.

"Through this historic step, we wish to show the world that the Chakma-Hajong people of Arunachal Pradesh are determined to seek a permanent, peaceful, and time-bound resolution of the long-pending issue," said Arunjit Chakma.

The main objective of the resolution are-

To establish beyond doubt that the Chakma-Hajong community wants a final, permanent resolution,To awaken and mobilise our people into a mass movement, breaking the chains of complacency, To affirm our stand for a peaceful, just, and honourable solution through dialogue and reconciliation with our neighbours.

Bordumsa-Diyun MLA Nikh Kamin said," No body can solve the Chakma-Hajong issue, only they can resolve their issue with dialogues with other tribes of Arunachal Pradesh.
