A viral video has surfaced from the Sribhumi district in Assam, where farmers from the Bangladesh side are seen arguing with the BSF forces situated at the border. In the video, a person can be heard saying, “hamara desh ka mati hain, aap kyun aaya”.
The incident surfaced on Sunday, November 2nd has highlighted concerns of trespassing along the India-Bangladesh border. As per sources from the BSF, the incident occured on Sunday morning as farmers from the Bangladesh tried to do farming in the area which had come out due to the water receding amid the winter season. “The land which comes out during winter, they try to claim that land, which is actually Indian land,” said an officer. The source further revealed that there was no attack on the BSG, however there was an argument. “Actually when the river water flows back, land comes out, they tried doing farming and they tried to claim that land yesterday. We had a meeting and sorted out the issue,” added the officer.
This incident comes at a time after concerns have grown regarding the issue of illegal immigration. Earlier, 16 suspected illegal migrants from Bangladesh were detained in Cachar district. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma issued a strong warning in a social media post, the CM said that “Miyabhai ki Daring won’t work in Assam,” asserting that the group had entered the state “with nefarious intentions” and was intercepted by police before they could execute any unlawful activity.
The development comes amid heightened surveillance along Assam’s border districts, with the state government repeatedly asserting a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal migration.
