Poonch: In a major breakthrough, security forces achieved a big success in Poonch after apprehending two local terrorists associated with the Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit. The arrested terrorists identified as Tariq and Riyaz, were picked up by Poonch Police from the Mandi area on Saturday.

According to officials, the duo had been living in a rented accommodation in Jallian village of Mandi. During the search, two AK-series rifles were recovered from the rented room of Tariq. Shockingly, one of the arrested men was working as a porter with the Indian Army, raising serious concerns about the extent of infiltration by terror groups.

Police sources said both suspects were providing support to Lashkar operatives and had been under surveillance for some time. "The recovery of automatic weapons and the arrest of two trained local terrorists is a big achievement for security forces in the border district," an official stated.

Both the accused are currently being subjected to sustained interrogation by Poonch Police to trace their network and uncover further links. Security agencies have intensified searches in the region to ensure no other sleeper cells are active in the sensitive border belt.
