NEW DELHI: The newly elected BJP government in Delhi is actively preparing to present its first budget, with extensive groundwork underway to ensure its successful implementation. The budget is set to be tabled in the Delhi Assembly between March 24 and 26. According to an insider who spoke to The Sunday Guardian, the upcoming budget for the national capital will be a “people’s budget,” carefully designed to incorporate suggestions from all sections of society.
Although the budget session of the Assembly is now less than two weeks away, the BJP government faces a significant challenge: securing adequate financial resources to fulfill all the commitments made during the election campaign. Ensuring the availability of sufficient funds will be crucial in delivering on the promises outlined in the party’s manifesto.
Delhi Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra emphasised this approach, stating, “It is Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s decision to prepare the budget after consulting the people of Delhi. She is currently engaging with women, and following that, she will hold discussions with the business community in Delhi. The suggestions received from every section of society will be carefully considered and incorporated into the budget. This will truly be a budget shaped by the people of Delhi,” Mishra told reporters.
Earlier, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had expressed that the “Viksit Delhi Budget” would be presented in the Assembly, and the government is committed to ensuring that suggestions from all segments of society are taken into account. While addressing the media in the national capital, Gupta stressed that the budget would be dedicated to the development of Delhi, ensuring inclusive participation from citizens.
“The Viksit Delhi Budget 2025-26 is set to be presented between March 24 and March 26. Our government is focused on fostering the all-round development of Delhi by involving every section of society in the budget-making process and incorporating their suggestions,” the Chief Minister stated.
Highlighting key priorities, Gupta said, “Financial assistance for women, expansion of healthcare services, enhancement of public transport, pollution reduction, cleaning of the Yamuna, employment generation, and the welfare of senior citizens were all crucial aspects of our manifesto.
