NEW DELHI: Several prominent names from the present BJP national executive are unlikely to be retained with the party preparing for a major organizational overhaul under its new national president Nitin Nabin.

As per inputs, among others, the feedback shared by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and its affiliated organisations against some members of the current team, are expected to play a decisive role in shaping the new national executive.

Among those whose continuation remains uncertain is the party’s national media in-charge Anil Baluni. Multiple factors are being cited for this, including the effectiveness of the party’s media management during the previous term.

Some leaders currently handling media-related responsibilities may be reassigned to other organisational roles.

Sources also indicated that a significant number of leaders from Bihar may not be retained in the new executive, despite Nabin himself belonging to the state. This is being interpreted as an effort to avoid perceptions of regional favouritism and to recalibrate the organisation’s national balance.

Since assuming charge, Nabin has undertaken visits to more than seven states in a short span, a move seen as a deliberate attempt to obtain firsthand assessment of the party’s organisational structure, operational challenges, and leadership capabilities across regions. His approach reflects an emphasis on direct evaluation rather than reliance solely on inputs from the existing central leadership.

Nabin, who rose through the ranks on the basis of his organisational credentials, is expected to prioritise leaders with demonstrable grassroots experience and organisational discipline while forming his new team.

Significantly, some organisational figures who had privately claimed to journalists that they were “mentoring” him in navigating Delhi’s internal power structure, may themselves find no place in the reconstituted national executive. Some consequences are likely to be faced by top, heavy weight leaders who were upset over the decision of the party’s parliamentary board to give Nabin the responsibility.

Question marks also continue over the future of a former high profile general secretary, who has been sidelined since the last few years, and is now trying hard to get a seat in the executive.
