JAMMU: In a major success against cross-border narcotics smuggling, vigilant troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) recovered two packets of suspected heroin weighing approximately 5.3 kilograms from the depth area of R.S. Pura sector in Jammu during the early hours of Monday.
The recovery came as part of a special anti-smuggling operation launched by BSF on the basis of precise intelligence input. According to officials, on October 26, BSF Intelligence received credible information about a possible attempt by Pakistan-based smugglers to push narcotics into Indian territory. Acting swiftly, a special ambush was laid in the depth area of R.S. Pura.
During an extensive search near Village Bidipur, BSF personnel spotted and recovered two yellow-coloured packets—each containing multiple smaller packets—concealed in farmland. The total weight of the seized contraband was around 5.300 kg. Preliminary assessment suggests that the packets were drone-dropped from across the border under the cover of darkness.
A detailed search operation is currently underway in the surrounding area, and local police have been called in to initiate further investigation and necessary legal action.
A BSF spokesperson said the force remains “steadfast in its mission to safeguard the borders and the nation from all threats, including cross-border smuggling and infiltration attempts.”
The seizure marks another strong blow to Pakistan-backed smuggling networks attempting to infiltrate narcotics into India through the sensitive Jammu border belt.
