Army personnel carry a bedridden cardiac patient on her bed through floodwaters in Sammoval village near Ajnala, Punjab
Chandigarh: A woman suffering from a heart ailment was rescued by the flood relief team of Kharga Sappers from Sammoval village near Ajnala, Defence PRO said on Wednesday.
The woman was bedridden and unable to move, which made the evacuation particularly challenging. Since boats could not reach her residence due to the flooding, the team advanced on foot. On reaching the house, they placed her on her bed and carried it on their shoulders for nearly 300 metres to the waiting boat.
According to the PRO, she was later shifted along with her husband and daughter in a Tatra vehicle to Amritsar, where she was handed over to relatives for medical attention.
The Defence PRO added that the swift action and commitment of the flood relief team ensured the patient’s safe evacuation, reflecting the dedication of army personnel engaged in relief operations across Punjab.
