NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha MP Kartikeya Sharma strongly criticized the Congress and INDI Alliance for deliberately spreading misinformation about the VB GRAM G Bill. Calling it a landmark reform for rural employment and livelihood security, Sharma thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the NDA Government for passing this historic Act in Parliament.

In a press conference attended by him as the chief guest at the BJP district office at Yamunanagar, Kartikeya Sharma said that if Congress truly had constructive suggestions for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they would have raised them in Parliament. Instead, they avoid serious debate, walk out of the House, and later attempt to mislead the public. He added that the same approach is visible in the Haryana Vidhan Sabha as well.

Sharma stated that the people of Haryana and the country have clearly recognized the political conduct of Congress and the INDI Alliance, and their repeated false narratives have made them unreliable in the eyes of the public. He said Congress leaders are intentionally misleading rural workers through baseless statements.

HARYANA WORKERS TO RECEIVE MAXIMUM BENEFIT

Sharma emphasized that Haryana has the highest daily wage rate in the country. Under the new provisions of the VB G RAM G Act, every worker in Haryana will receive at least Rs 10,000 more annually. With a daily wage rate of Rs 400, a worker’s annual income can reach nearly Rs 50,000. In comparison, Punjab offers Rs 339 per day, while Himachal Pradesh offers only Rs 230 per day.

RECORD PAYMENTS UNDER NDA GOVERNMENT

MP Kartikeya Sharma informed that from October 2014 to October 2025, Haryana workers received payments worth Rs 5,243 crore, while during ten years of Congress rule, workers received only Rs 1,154 crore. He said this clearly proves that more employment and better financial security have been ensured under the present government. The current financial year’s budget also includes a provision of Rs 1,000 crore for the scheme.

EXPOSING UPA-ERA IRREGULARITIES

Referring to the 2013 CAG Report, MP Kartikeya Sharma stated that during UPA rule, the scheme was plagued with fake beneficiaries, absence of biometric verification, lack of monitoring, and large-scale financial manipulation. He said MGNREGA had been reduced to a mechanical exercise of digging and refilling pits, with minimal real benefit to workers. He further stated that a social audit in Punjab revealed over 10,663 cases of financial irregularities, yet no strict action or recovery was initiated.

PURPOSE OF THE VB GRAM G ACT

MP Kartikeya Sharma concluded that the VB G RAM G Act has been enacted to eliminate corruption, ensure justice to workers, prevent exploitation, guarantee fair wages, and ensure that public funds reach the rightful beneficiaries. Under the leadership of PM Modi, the NDA Government has brought this historic Act to restore transparency, dignity, and accountability in rural employment and livelihood systems.

Replying to a media query, Sharma assured that he will raise the issue of the proposed Ambala-Panchkula railway line in Parliament and will strongly advocate for Haryana’s development priorities in the upcoming Budget Session.

Other dignitaries present in the press conference included OBC Morcha Karyakari Pradesh Adhyaksh Madan Chauhan, BJP Zila Mahamantri Narendra Singh Rana, Zila Mahamantri Praveen Khadri, Zila Media Prabhari Kapil Manish Garg, Poorv Chairperson Rozi Malik Anand, BJP Neta Amit Khadri, Poorv Chairman Rameshwar Chauhan, Chairman Razpinder Singh Malhi, Chairman Jaswinder Saini, Vice Chairman Thath Singh, Vineet Poawal, Social Media Prabhari Vipin Sahni, and Satish Chaudhary.
