THE JAI JAGAT GANG

Who is the Jai Jagat gang in the Congress? Rasheed Kidwai, veteran journalist and author of 24 Akbar Road, who is well versed with all the inside buzz within the Congress, spoke to NewsX recently and revealed that this is a well-placed group of Rahul Gandhi loyalists who are in the habit of signing off emails with a Jai Jagat salutation. This is a powerful group that occupies senior party positions solely due to their proximity to the Congress leader. Not unnaturally, there is a lot of resentment against them by other party workers who feel that the Jai Jagat group has an extraordinary amount of influence over their leader and also tend to get rewarded with Rajya Sabha seats and party posts. Oh well.

RETHINK WITHIN THE I.N.D.I.A BLOC

There seems to be a rethink within the I.N.D.I.A bloc post the Bihar polls. Not just regarding the Congress, because to be fair the loss was as much the RJD’s as it was the Congress party’s. But the strategy now is to relook at their campaign narrative and the kind of issues they should raise. Well, the allies are having a rethink but what about the Congress party?

THE BJP PRESIDENT

In all the hullabaloo on Bihar, the question of the new BJP president seems to be on the backburner once again. Which makes one wonder, if the BJP leadership was so much in control of the party and if all is indeed well with the RSS then what could be the reason for this inordinate delay? Some claim that the delay is because the appointment of a new party chief will entail an organisational reshuffle at the party HQ, and others add, a domino effect could be a cabinet reshuffle as well. Whatever the reason, BJP’s senior leadership should have no problems in playing this game of political musical chairs. Then what is taking them so long?
