Srinagar: With possibilities of Assembly elections being held in Jammu and Kashmir simultaneously with the parliamentary polls very high, political activities are at its peak these days in the state. In the recent past, many prominent leaders have switched their sides especially in Jammu region.

National Conference (NC) is the biggest beneficiary of this party-hopping exercise. It has succeeded in poaching a number of leaders from other political parties, including BJP which is still not clear on the issue of taking any action against former minister and sitting Basholi MLA Chaudhary Lal Singh, who is in the process of floating is own political party.

Similarly, rift within the PDP unit of Jammu region is only growing as most of its leaders there are not happy with the way its president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has led the party to doom in the Valley.

Recently, many of party’s founder members including former MP Tirlok Singh Bajwa, its former general secretaries Vaid Mahajan and Daman Bhasin decided not to attend the meet conducted by her in the region. “Many prominent leaders and activists will leave the party very soon,” one of the angry leaders told The Sunday Guardian.
