New Delhi: A high-level preparatory meeting was convened earlier this week at the Delhi Legislative Assembly under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Speaker Vijender Gupta to take stock of the arrangements for the upcoming All India Speakers’ Conference, slated to be held on August 24–25, 2025.
The two-day national conference will be inaugurated by Hon’ble Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while the valedictory address will be delivered by Hon’ble Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The event will also be attended by the Hon’ble Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Hon’ble Chairpersons and Deputy Chairpersons of Legislative Councils and Assemblies, several Hon’ble Union Cabinet Ministers, and a host of distinguished dignitaries drawn from across the length and breadth of the country.
Adding to its importance, this year’s conference carries deep historical significance as it coincides with the centenary of Shri Vitthalbhai Jhaverbhai Patel’s election on August 24, 1925, as the very first Indian President (Speaker) of the Central Legislative Assembly. This milestone remains etched as a defining moment in India’s democratic evolution. To commemorate this occasion, a dedicated exhibition alongside a specially curated documentary showcasing Patel’s remarkable life, his leadership, and his invaluable contributions to the nation will be unveiled during the conference.
During the preparatory review, Commissioner of Police S.B.K. Singh assured Hon’ble Speaker Vijender Gupta that comprehensive and foolproof security arrangements, as well as robust protocol management, will be enforced to ensure the seamless conduct of the event. He further informed that every visiting dignitary will be granted State Guest status and will receive the assistance of Delhi Police protocol and security officers throughout their stay. From the point of arrival at the airport to their accommodation at the Taj Hotel, and including all movements to and from the Assembly premises, security and logistical arrangements will be monitored with meticulous care.
The inspection also involved a joint on-site assessment of the Assembly complex, where senior officials closely reviewed the preparedness of the venue. Special focus was given to the management of entry and exit points, the seating and layout design, traffic regulation and diversion plans, and the functioning of emergency protocols to guarantee smooth proceedings.
Following the review, Hon’ble Speaker Vijender Gupta remarked that the Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat has put in place all essential measures for the successful organization of this landmark national event. He voiced confidence that the All India Speakers’ Conference 2025 would “create a memorable legacy and leave a profound imprint on the parliamentary traditions and democratic ethos of India.”
