New Delhi: The Delhi government has reassured residents that there is no shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the national capital, stating that current supply levels are sufficient and, in fact, exceed existing demand. Officials confirmed that both domestic and commercial LPG distribution systems are operating smoothly, with consistent deliveries and adequate stock availability across all regions of the city.
Authorities said the supply chain is being monitored on a daily basis to ensure uninterrupted distribution and to address any bottlenecks quickly. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the system has shown strong performance in recent weeks, with deliveries consistently matching and often surpassing booking numbers.
“On several occasions, the number of cylinders delivered has been higher than new bookings, which indicates that pending demand is being cleared efficiently,” Gupta said. “Citizens should not worry, as the supply situation is stable and fully under control.”
Government data suggests that in recent assessments, more than 1.30 lakh LPG cylinders were delivered on a single day against around 1.11 lakh bookings. Officials said this reflects not only adequate supply but also an effort to reduce any backlog in pending deliveries. The average delivery time has reportedly improved to under four days, supported by better coordination between distributors and oil marketing companies.
On the commercial side, officials stated that LPG allocation for restaurants, hotels, and other businesses in Delhi remains sufficient. Daily supply levels are higher than consumption requirements, ensuring that commercial users are not facing shortages. Authorities have advised bulk users to avoid unnecessary stockpiling and to report any distribution delays through official grievance channels.
A senior official from the Food and Civil Supplies Department said, “We are continuously monitoring supply across all agencies. There is no disruption in the system, and any minor delays are being resolved immediately.”
The government has also strengthened its monitoring mechanisms, including control room oversight and digital tracking of LPG distribution. Officials said these measures have helped improve transparency and reduce delays in delivery.
In addition, the administration has encouraged consumers to consider cleaner and more efficient alternatives such as piped natural gas (PNG), especially for large establishments, to reduce dependence on cylinder-based supply chains in the long term.
The clarification comes amid circulating concerns in some sections about possible fuel shortages. However, officials firmly rejected these claims, emphasizing that Delhi’s LPG supply situation remains stable and well-managed compared to other regions.
“We urge citizens not to believe rumours,” Chief Minister Gupta said. “There is no shortage of LPG in Delhi. The system is functioning efficiently, and supply is meeting demand without any difficulty.”
With supply currently exceeding demand, authorities said their focus will remain on maintaining efficiency, improving last-mile delivery, and ensuring that no household or business faces inconvenience.
