New Delhi: The newly introduced CM Shri Schools have drawn an extraordinary response from both parents and students, receiving more than 50,000 applications within just a few days since the admission process began on August 15. As per the official figures released, applications have been registered across all three entry-level classes, with 14,928 for Class 6, 15,114 for Class 7, and 20,762 for Class 8.

Sharing the details, Delhi’s Education Minister Ashish Sood stated that such overwhelming interest highlights the deepening confidence of parents in the government’s commitment to providing quality, innovative education to children across the city. With application numbers already crossing the 50,000 milestone in the initial days, authorities believe the count is likely to rise even further in the weeks ahead. The surge has already positioned CM Shri Schools among the most in-demand educational institutions in Delhi’s public system.

Observers note that this rush signals a decisive shift in sentiment: parents are increasingly ready to embrace government schools, provided they combine accessibility with the standards of excellence usually associated with private institutions. The real challenge, however, will lie in ensuring that the quality delivered inside classrooms lives up to the ambitious model presented on paper.

Conceived as a flagship project, the CM Shri Schools have been designed to set new benchmarks in the capital’s educational landscape. The initiative promises to blend modern teaching approaches with world-class infrastructure, creating an environment that supports not only academic performance but also holistic growth. The schools are envisioned as nurturing grounds for the next generation of achievers, equipped with the skills and mindset required to thrive in an evolving world.

“This tremendous response is not only heartening but also serves as a powerful validation of the Delhi Government’s consistent efforts to raise the standards of public education,” Minister Sood remarked. He further reassured parents that the admissions process would remain fully transparent, smooth, and efficient.

Education analysts view this surge of applications as a reflection of society’s rising aspirations for high-quality, future-ready education. They also interpret it as a collective endorsement of the government’s reform-oriented approach to schooling. Introduced in the 2025–26 state budget, the CM Shri Schools are modeled on the Centre’s PM Shri initiative and closely aligned with the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Each upgraded school has been planned with an impressive array of facilities, including smart classrooms, AI-driven digital libraries, immersive AR-VR tools, biometric attendance systems, and robotics laboratories, all supported by sustainable, eco-friendly infrastructure.

For parents, the availability of such cutting-edge amenities—traditionally confined to high-cost private institutions—has emerged as the primary attraction. Many families view the scheme as a transformative opportunity to secure an advanced, technology-enriched education for their children without the burden of exorbitant fees.
