JAMMU: Security forces recovered a suspected drone from the Fattu Kotli area of Garkhal in Akhnoor on Saturday, triggering a fresh round of investigation in the border belt.
Officials said the device was seized by Jammu and Kashmir Police, who have launched a probe to ascertain its origin and purpose. It is yet to be confirmed whether the drone had crossed over from across the border or was being used for any other activity.
This marks the second such incident in the region within the last few days, raising concerns over the recurring use of aerial devices in sensitive areas.
Authorities said further technical examination of the seized drone will help establish whether it was an enemy-operated machine or a locally flown device.
Security has been tightened in the area, with agencies maintaining heightened vigil along the International Border.
