JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday announced that a fresh probe will be conducted into the Chittisinghpora massacre of March 20, 2000, in which 35 Sikhs were brutally killed by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in Anantnag district.

The announcement came after a delegation of the 35 Shaheed Singhs Welfare Organization, Chittisinghpora met the Lieutenant Governor and reiterated their long-standing demand for justice. The delegation pressed for a thorough investigation into the massacre, which has remained one of the darkest chapters in Jammu and Kashmir’s history of terrorism.

Responding to their plea, Lieutenant Governor Sinha reaffirmed his government’s commitment to delivering justice to the families of the victims. “A fresh and thorough inquiry will be conducted. The truth will be brought out, and justice will be served,” he assured.

The massacre, carried out on the eve of then US President Bill Clinton’s visit to India, had sent shockwaves across the country, highlighting Pakistan’s sponsorship of terrorism in the region. For the families of the victims, Sinha’s assurance rekindles hope for long-awaited justice after nearly 25 years.
