New Delhi: The members of the Faridabad terror module, acting on directions from Jaish-e-Mohammad handlers, were part of a larger conspiracy to carry out multiple terror strikes in India.
However, they were stopped before they could execute their plans through the combined efforts of state police and central agencies.
The blast outside Red Fort, which is linked to this module, was an "accidental" blast by all accounts so far, according to sources.
Officials have said that the crackdown demonstrates India's firm resolve against terrorism and the "success" reflects the tireless dedication of India's intelligence agencies, security forces, and law enforcement officers.
Tracing the details of their investigation, official sources said that the Red Fort blast investigation is related to objectionable posters found in the Nowgam Police Post area of Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, following which an FIR was registered on 19 October 2025.
During the investigation, Maulvi Irfan Ahmed Waghey from Shopian and Zameer Ahmed from Wakura, Ganderbal, were arrested between 20 and 27 October. Another suspect, Doctor Adeel, was apprehended from Saharanpur on 5 November. Subsequently, one AK-56 rifle and other ammunition were seized at Anantnag Hospital on 7 November. More guns, pistols, and explosives were seized from Al-Falah Medical College on 8 November, officials disclosed.
Based on information gathered during interrogation, another suspect, Doctor Muzammil, was arrested from Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad. Further arrests followed, along with the seizure of large quantities of weapons and explosives.
On 9 November, an individual named Madrasi, a resident of Dhauj, Faridabad, was arrested from his home. The next day, a massive consignment of explosives weighing 2,563 kilograms was seized from the house of Hafiz Mohammed Ishtiaq, a resident of Mewat and Imam at Al-Falah Mosque, in Dhera Colony, Faridabad. Additionally, 358 kilograms of explosive material and detonators/timers were seized during the raids. In total, nearly 3,000 kilograms of explosive material and bomb-making equipment collected by this module were seized.
During these operations, Doctor Umar—a member of this module who worked at Al-Falah Medical College—changed his location due to continuous pressure from agencies. As per officials, based on CCTV footage, it can be almost definitively stated that the vehicle which exploded in the Red Fort incident was being driven by Doctor Umar. It is also confirmed that the explosion was caused by the same materials that were being collected in Faridabad.
The absconding Umar fled in panic due to the agencies' successful operations, and his panic, nervousness, and lack of options led to the Red Fort blast.
Whether the explosion was premeditated or accidental will be determined in further investigation.
However, it is certain that this entire episode is an integral part of the sequence during which security agencies uncovered a large module and seized massive quantities of explosive materials.
Officials said that India's security agencies and intelligence network foiled a major conspiracy aimed at causing significant damage in India by dismantling this Faridabad module and seizing the vast amount of explosive material.
Subsequent steps taken shows that government agencies and the apparatus were in total control of the situation despite the panic and shock post the blast.
The blast occurred near the Delhi Red Fort Metro Station at 6:55 PM on 10 November. Immediately, Delhi Police and other security agencies reached the spot. Following this, Union Home Minister Amit Shah instructed teams from NSG, NIA, and Forensics to reach the site. The injured were immediately sent to a nearby hospital.
The ownership of the car used in the blast was swiftly confirmed. Essential DNA, explosive, and other samples were collected from the site and sent for forensic examination.
Post the blast, Shah took information about the incident from the Delhi Commissioner over the phone at 7:15 PM and gave a media statement at 9:00 PM.
Similarly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with the Home Minister to inquire about the incident.
The Home Minister later reached LNJP Hospital at 9:30 PM, received information from the Delhi Police Commissioner and other officers at 9:35 PM, met with the injured at 9:45 PM, and took information about the blast victims from doctors at 9:55 PM. He gave information to the media from the hospital at 10:10 PM and visited the blast site at 10:20 PM.
The next day, the Home Minister held two consecutive meetings with officials at 11:00 AM. The first meeting included the Central Home Secretary, Director of IB, DG of NIA, Delhi Police Commissioner, and the DG of Jammu (via virtual means). The second meeting was attended by the Central Home Secretary, Director of IB, DG of National Security Guard (NSG), DG of NIA, Director of DFSS, and the Principal Director and Director of FSL.
The investigation was handed over to the NIA at 2:30 PM to investigate all aspects related to this terror module and to expose those who finance and operate it.
