Srinagar August 26 : Snowfall has covered large parts of Ladakh, turning the region into a white wonderland and disrupting normal movement in high-altitude areas. Fresh visuals have surfaced from Penzi La, a high mountain pass situated at approximately 4,400 meters above sea level, near the Drang Drung Glacier in the scenic Zanskar Valley.
Penzi La serves as a critical link between Suru Valley and Zanskar and is known for its rugged terrain and breathtaking views. With the recent snowfall, the already challenging route has become more difficult for travelers, prompting authorities to issue cautionary advisories.
The Drang Drung Glacier, among the largest in Ladakh, remains partly visible beneath the thick snow. Strong winds and continuous snow flurries have created near whiteout conditions in the area.
Both locals and tourists have shared visuals of the heavy snowfall on social media, capturing the intensity of the weather. The authorities have urged people to avoid non-essential travel through high-altitude passes due to slippery roads, poor visibility, and the risk of avalanches in some regions.
