NEW DELHI: Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) in Visakhapatnam on 10 October 2025 hosted Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command, in a visit that underscored the close operational and strategic partnership between the Indian Navy and the nation’s oldest shipbuilding yard.
During the visit, Commodore Girideep Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of HSL, along with the shipyard’s Functional Directors, conveyed appreciation to Vice Admiral Pendharkar for his sustained guidance and institutional support that have shaped HSL’s growth trajectory in recent years.
Vice Admiral Pendharkar commended the shipyard’s transformation into a modern defence public sector enterprise with enhanced capabilities in shipbuilding and refit operations. He acknowledged HSL’s role in supporting the Navy’s operational readiness through timely completion of ship and submarine refits and noted the shipyard’s expanding contribution to the country’s indigenous naval construction programme.
The Vice Admiral expressed confidence that HSL would continue to build on its recent momentum, particularly with the ongoing construction of Fleet Support Ships and other advanced naval platforms, reinforcing India’s self-reliance in maritime manufacturing.
