New Delhi: Even as the Congress is preparing for going solo in the Panchayat and local polls in Uttar Pradesh, Congress state incharge Avinash Pandey on Friday said that if the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) decides to come to INDIA bloc “we will welcome them”.

Pandey, who is also Congress general secretary said that in politics, possibilities cannot be ruled out.

To a question if Mayawati decides to come to INDIA bloc alliance in Uttar Pradesh, he said, “If the BSP decides to come, then we will welcome it.”

Meanwhile, Pandey, said he has focused on rebuilding a strengthening the party under five structured framework, and it has boosted the morale of the workers.

“And the workers want that we should go to Panchayat and local body polls on our own. The motto is simple as workers have been feeling neglected while in alliance for last severam years. And thus the announcement was made to judge the strength and weakness of the party,” he said.

He also said that in the coming times during assembly polls what kind of situation arises in the alliance, with respectable formula of alliance.

“And to oust the BJP government with their failures we will make strategy and work,” he said.

He also said that in Uttar Pradesh, the party has prepared a 100 day plan, which has been discussed with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. “We will announcd the 10p day programme soon which will include 18 to 20 public meetings, five to six sammelan and also training camps for training the workers and BLAs,” the Congress leader said.

“Thus next 100 days will be crucial for the party in the state,” he said.

We will prepare a new movement in Uttar Pradesh as Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi has been battling and trying to save the Constitution, so we will provide the strengthen to that movement, Pandey said.

He also said that Congress is preparing itself on all the 403 seats in the state.

Pandey explained that it is important because if the organisation is not strong then also in alliance we would not be able to provide strength.

“And if we are unable to bring the party workers together, so even if the alliance happens, then we would not be able to give that kind of performance, thus we are working to make organisation more strong so that we give a strong fight in alliance in proper coordination to defeat the BJP by highlighting their failures,” he added.

The Congress had contested the 2017 and 2022 assembly polls in alliance with the Samajwadi Party.

The Congress-led INDIA bloc had given a good performance in Uttar Pradesh in 2024 Lok Sabha polls as it managed to win 43 out 80 seats.

In 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the SP and the BSP had contested in alliance along eith the Jayant Chaudhary led RLD in the state.
