Poonch: In a decisive response to yet another infiltration attempt from across the border, the Indian Army on Tuesday foiled a major infiltration grid along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Digwar sector of Poonch district, killing two terrorists in the process.

According to Army sources, Operation Shivshakti was launched after troops observed suspicious movement of two individuals near the forward area. The infiltration attempt was swiftly countered by alert soldiers deployed along the LoC.

The Indian Army, in an official post on X (formerly Twitter), confirmed, "In a successful anti-infiltration operation, alert troops of the #IndianArmy eliminated two terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control. Swift action and accurate firepower thwarted the nefarious designs. Three weapons have been recovered."

The Army further noted that synergistic and synchronised intelligence inputs from its own field units and the Jammu and Kashmir Police played a crucial role in tracking and engaging the infiltrators before they could penetrate deeper into Indian territory.

The area remains under tight security as the operation is still in progress, with combing and area domination drills underway to rule out the presence of any additional infiltrators.

This infiltration bid is part of a broader pattern of attempts by Pakistan-backed terror groups to exploit vulnerable stretches along the LoC. However, sustained vigilance and rapid response by Indian forces continue to keep such threats in check.
