Indian Army personnel save a 48-year-old Amarnath pilgrim suffering medical distress, highlighting their critical role beyond security.

Indian Army Saves Life of Ailing Yatri on Baltal Route
Srinagar: The Indian Army continues to play a vital, multifaceted role in the ongoing Amarnath Yatra extending far beyond its core duty of providing security.
In a recent act of compassion and quick response, Army personnel on a domination patrol near Kali Mata along the Baltal route came across 48-year-old Kuldip from Rohtak, who was visibly restless and in medical distress. Without delay, he was evacuated to the nearest medical detachment, where the Army medical team administered oxygen and monitored his vitals.
Thanks to the prompt intervention, Kuldip recovered quickly and expressed deep gratitude to the soldiers before continuing his pilgrimage.
The life-saving assistance comes at a critical time, as the Baltal route has already seen eight yatris lose their lives this year—mainly due to high-altitude exhaustion and cardiac arrests. This incident underscores the Army’s essential humanitarian role in ensuring the safety and well-being of pilgrims on this challenging journey.
