Jammu Railway Station on High Alert After Pigeon With IED Blast Threat Caught Near Indo-Pak Border

BSF intercepts pigeon with threat note near RS Pura, sparking high alert in Jammu. Security tightened at railway station amid probe into cross-border link.

Jammu: Security forces were placed on high alert in Jammu on Wednesday after the Border Security Force (BSF) intercepted a pigeon carrying a threatening note near the Indo-Pakistan International Border in the RS Pura sector.

According to officials, BSF personnel deployed in the Khatmarian border area noticed the bird during routine patrol and found a piece of paper tied to its leg. The note allegedly carried a message warning of an “IED blast Jammu Station,” triggering immediate concern among security agencies.

“We are treating this as a serious threat, though the possibility of mischief cannot be ruled out. Security has been enhanced at vital installations, particularly the railway station, as a precaution,” a senior police officer said.

Officials said the possibility of the pigeon being used as a cross-border tool for psychological warfare cannot be ignored, especially given its capture in the sensitive RS Pura sector.

The incident created unease among daily commuters at Jammu Railway Station, where stringent frisking and baggage checks were carried out through the day. Police have assured the public that all necessary precautions 

Security agencies have not ruled out the involvement of cross-border handlers, noting that pigeons and other unconventional methods have been used in the past for communication across the border. The matter remains under investigation.
