Srinagar: Security has been heightened across all districts of Kashmir in view of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations. Comprehensive arrangements have been put in place to ensure peaceful and smooth conduct of events across the region.

All major highways, including the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, have been placed under high alert. Additional deployments of security forces, including BSF, CRPF, and Jammu & Kashmir Police, have been made along key stretches. New bunkers have also been established at strategic locations to enhance vigilance and ensure public safety.

In North Kashmir’s border districts Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora there has been a significant increase in troop deployment, both in the hinterlands and plains. Intelligence inputs have suggested a heightened threat in areas along the Line of Control (LoC) due to continuous infiltration attempts by terrorists from across the border. In response, the Indian Army and BSF are using advanced surveillance technologies to counter any potential threats.

Across Kashmir, patriotic fervour is rising as Tiranga rallies are being organised in the run-up to August 15. Various organisations and local bodies are actively participating in the celebrations, underlining the collective spirit of unity.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Gurinder Pal Singh, briefed the media on the district’s preparedness. He informed that Independence Day celebrations will take place at 147 venues, including remote areas and locations near the LoC.

SSP Singh assured that fool-proof security arrangements have been made, with intensified surveillance and force deployment to prevent any untoward incidents. “All necessary protocols are in place to ensure the safety of citizens and dignitaries during the celebrations,” he said.

The administration has urged the public to cooperate with security forces and take part in the national celebrations with unity, enthusiasm, and respect for the nation.
