On the first day of Parliament’s Monsoon Session, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, who is also the Leaeer of Opposition in Rajya Sabha on Monday cornered the government over claims by US President Donald Trump of mediating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan as he demanded for a detailed discussion.
While speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Kharge pointed out that the terrorists responsible for the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22 have not been caught or neutralised.
He also sought information from the government on the same.
Kharge said, “Sir, you told, that it is not in conformity with the rule… I am always helpful, Sir!… Sir, I have given notice under rule 267 on Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor.”
The Congress leader said that he had given the notice under Section 267 to discuss Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor and it is as per rule.
Targeting the government, Kharge said: “Pahalgam terror attack happened on April 22 and none of the terrorists have been caught or killed. We are being told everytime that”
He also said that we want to know that, because we all parties had given unconditional supoort to the government to give backing and moral strength to thenarmed forces and for a strong nation without asking any questions.
“But we want to know that from rhe government. As Pahalgam terror attack happened on April 22, till now no terrorists have been arrested but what has happened? In Jammu and Kashmir where they have intelligence… there security, they had failure over there, and this has been said by them. It has been said by Lt Governor that there has been an intelligence failure and this he has accepted.
He also pointed out that the CDS, the vice Army chief and one another defence attache have made some serious revelations.
Kharge said that on these issues, as you have briefed the world about Operation Sindoor and Pahalgam attack, should also be told to the people of the country. “Apart from this, the government should also clarify its stand on the statement of US President Donald Trump, because he has claimed not once but 24 times that he got the ceasefire done. This is humiliating for the country,” he said. Responding to Kharge, Union Minister JP Nadda said that the Central government is ready for a discussion on Operation Sindoor. However, amid ruckus, the House was adjourned till 12 pm.
