Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has assured full support to victims of the devastating cloudburst in Chasoti village of Kishtwar district, which has claimed at least 65 lives.
In a post on X, the LG said he had spoken to senior officials to review rescue and relief operations and directed them to ensure immediate aid and uninterrupted essential supplies to affected families.
“Spoke to senior officials and took stock of the rescue and relief operations at Chasoti, Kishtwar. I will ensure the reconstruction of homes damaged in flash floods. Immediate relief and essential supplies have been directed,” the LG stated.
The cloudburst triggered flash floods in the remote area, sweeping away houses and displacing several families. Rescue operations are being carried out by the NDRF, SDRF, J&K Police, Indian Army, and local administration.
Officials confirmed the death toll has reached 65, while dozens remain missing. Search and rescue efforts continue on war footing amid challenging terrain and weather conditions.
