J&K LG launches web portal for terror victim families to streamline aid, boost transparency, and ensure timely support.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha
Srinagar: In a major step towards institutionalized support and expedited assistance for families affected by terrorism, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today launched a dedicated web portal for terror victim families in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized that the initiative will streamline and fast-track relief measures, including financial compensation, compassionate appointments, and other government support for those who have suffered due to terrorism.
“This centralized platform will ensure that no legitimate case is left unaddressed. The aim is to provide timely relief while eliminating fraudulent or duplicate claims,” LG Sinha said, reiterating his personal commitment to monitoring and overseeing the redressal process across the UT.
The web portal, developed by the Home Department in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), is designed to maintain district-wise data of terrorism-affected families. It will also capture details of encroachments on the properties of victims and their next of kin (NOKs).
The initiative aims to create transparent, accountable, and efficient mechanisms for grievance redressal and support delivery. To ensure thoroughness and accessibility, toll-free helplines have been set up at the Divisional Commissioners’ offices in Jammu (0191-2478995) and Kashmir (0194-2487777).
These helplines, managed by trained personnel through dedicated control rooms, will act as citizen interfaces for lodging grievances and queries regarding compensation, ex-gratia relief, and compassionate appointments. All inputs received via helplines will be integrated into the centralized system for formal action and tracking.
To further bolster the system, Special Monitoring Cells have been established in the offices of the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police. These cells will conduct regular reviews of pending and resolved cases, identify procedural bottlenecks, and coordinate with concerned departments for speedy resolution.
The launch event was attended by several senior officials, including Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Nalin Prabhat, DGP; Chandraker Bharti, Principal Secretary, Home Department; Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the LG; Shri M Raju, Commissioner Secretary, GAD; Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir; Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; VK Birdi, IGP Kashmir; Bhim Sen Tuti, IGP Jammu; and S. Jaskaran Singh Modi, SIO, NIC either in person or virtually.
This landmark digital initiative is expected to significantly improve the delivery of justice and support to terrorism-affected families in Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring equity, transparency, and compassion at every step.
