SRINAGAR: Jammu & Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik in the recent past has taken the local politicians head on and has requested Hurriyat Conference leaders to talk to the Raj Bhavan directly and not consider him an alien. Malik recently accused National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti of playing “cheap politics” over the killings in Kashmir. He said that they were “deliberately silent” over the violence by terrorists and exploiting the sympathy of general public on ground for votes. In his reaction, Abdullah advised the Governor not to indulge in politics and keep Raj Bhavan away from such things. He also asked Malik to stick to his mandate of making the situation conducive for holding early polls in the state.
About the polls, Malik said that he had talked to all the stakeholders including police, security forces and politicians. He said that barring PDP, all other political parties are in favour of holding early polls in the state.
Taking a dig at PDP, the Governor said that Mehbooba was in favour of delaying the polls while other political parties, including BJP, were in favour of holding Assembly and parliamentary polls together.
