Assam: Meitei Heritage Society, representing the Meitei community, has stated that the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has cancelled a question related to the Manipur crisis from a recent examination, which allegedly maligned the Meitei community. The question appeared in the Agricultural Development Officer Examination held on August 10.
In a representation sent to APSC, Meitei Heritage Society wrote, “We write to express our deep concern regarding a disturbing and misleading question included in the Agricultural Development Officer Examination conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) on August 8, 2025. Question No. 95 of Series A (enclosed), and its equivalents in other series, refer to the ongoing violence in Manipur. It selectively maligns the Meitei community by portraying Meitei groups (Option iii) as perpetrators of rights abuses, while ignoring the grave atrocities, killings, and displacements suffered by Meitei at the hands of Chin-Kuki militants and their CSOs.
Such a one-sided portrayal is unbecoming of a Public Service Commission, whose mandate is to recruit public servants committed to fairness, impartiality, and service to the nation without prejudice.”
Meanwhile, the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has, on its part denied any mala fide intent in including a controversial question on the Manipur violence in a paper for selecting an agricultural development officer.
