NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested another crucial associate of the terrorist who carried out the Red Fort area car bomb blast, further exposing the depth and spread of the Faridabad terror module behind the attack.

The accused, Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish, a resident of Qazigund in Anantnag district of Jammu & Kashmir, was arrested from Srinagar by an NIA team probing the case.

NIA investigations have revealed that Jasir allegedly provided technical support for terror operations by modifying drones and attempting to make rockets, part of what the agency believes was an effort to develop capabilities for drone-based bombings in civilian areas. These activities were reportedly undertaken ahead of the deadly car bomb explosion that killed 10 people and injured 32 near the Red Fort.

Investigators say Jasir was an active co-conspirator who worked closely with Umar un Nabi, the terrorist behind the blast, in planning the attack and preparing the technical components of the plot.

This arrest comes a day after the NIA apprehended another Kashmiri resident who had conspired with the suicide bomber. Together, the back-to-back arrests underscore how wide the module had spread, involving individuals across multiple locations in Jammu & Kashmir.

Several teams are pursuing leads and conducting searches across states to identify all those connected to the terror network.
