Prime Minister Modi inaugurates railway lines and infrastructure projects across Mizoram.

Aizawl: Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his tour of three Northeastern states with a visit to Mizoram’s capital, Aizawl, on Saturday. During his visit, he inaugurated several development projects worth Rs9,000 crore, including the 51.38 km Bairabi-Sairang railway line and three trains, including a direct Rajdhani Express.
PM Modi inaugurated the projects from Lengpui Airport and addressed the public digitally, as heavy rain prevented him from reaching Lamual Ground via helicopter.
“Historic day for Mizoram,” PM Modi said. “Greetings to the wonderful people of Mizoram. I bow to the supreme god Pathian, who watches over this beautiful land of blue mountains. Although I cannot meet you in Aizawl due to the weather, I can feel your affection. Whether during the freedom movement or nation building, the people of Mizoram have contributed significantly. Today is a historic day, as Aizawl is now on the rail map.”

“Revolution for the people of Mizoram,” he added. “Mizoram is now playing an important role in India’s development journey. A few years ago, I laid the foundation stone of the Aizawl railway line, and today we dedicate it to the nation. Overcoming difficult terrain, the Bairabi-Sairang railway line has become a reality through the skill of our engineers and the enthusiasm of our workers. For the first time, Sairang will be connected directly to Delhi by Rajdhani Express. This is not just a railway, but a lifeline of change that will transform lives and livelihoods.”

“Connectivity will improve,” PM Modi said. “Farmers and businesses in Mizoram will access broader markets across the country. People will gain better opportunities for education and healthcare. This development will create employment across multiple sectors. Over the last eleven years, the Northeast has seen remarkable growth. Rural roads, highways, mobile and internet connectivity, electricity, tap water, and LPG connections have expanded. Mizoram will also benefit from the Udan Yojana for air travel, and helicopter services will soon improve access to remote areas.”

“Investment potential in Northeast,” he noted. “I am delighted to showcase the culture and opportunities of the Northeast to investors, both domestic and international. Earlier this year, I participated in the Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav in Delhi, which highlighted textiles, tourism, and other strengths of the region. I encourage investors to explore and tap into this immense potential.”
