Srinagar: Police on Wednesday arrested a man from South Kashmir’s Kulgam district for allegedly providing logistical support to terrorists responsible for the April 22 Pahalgam attack, officials said.

Identified as Mohd Yousuf Katari, 26, the accused is believed to have assisted the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack, who were later killed during Operation Mahadev, a security operation carried out on July 29 by the Army’s elite para commandos on the outskirts of Srinagar.

The April 22 attack in Pahalgam had claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists. Among the three terrorists neutralised in July, Sulieman alias Asif is believed to have been the mastermind of the Pahalgam attack. The other two, Jibran and Hamza Afghani, were also involved in previous terror activities, with Jibran linked to the Sonamarg Tunnel attack in October 2024.

Police said the arrest follows intelligence inputs and is part of ongoing efforts to track and neutralise support networks aiding terrorists in the Valley.
