Today’s Weather Updates
Delhi is likely to witness unusually warm, early summer-like conditions on Friday, 20 March, 2026 with temperatures staying 18 to 30 degrees Celsius above normal for this time of year.
According to the IMD, the country is likely to experience a warmer-than-average March. In most parts of the northern and central regions, the temperatures during the day will remain between 17-32°C with some areas experiencing an increase of -3-4°C above the normal temperatures due to the lack of cloud formation and rainfall.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Delhi for March 18–20, warning residents about possible weather disruptions. Severe thunderstorms and dust storms forced at least 22 flight diversions at Indira Gandhi International Airport with over 1,300 daily flight movements, even brief disruptions had a cascading effect on schedules. Major airlines such as IndiGo, Air India and SpiceJet issued advisories urging passengers to check flight status before travel.
Important Day – 20 March, 2026
March 20 is observed worldwide as the International Day of Happiness, a day dedicated to promoting well-being, positivity and the idea that progress should be measured not just by economic growth but also by people’s happiness.
Meaning: Happiness is a universal human goal, emphasizing well-being, mental health and life satisfaction over material success.
History: The observance was established by the United Nations in 2012. The idea was strongly supported by Bhutan, which has long prioritized Gross National Happiness over traditional economic indicators like GDP. The first official celebration took place in 2013.
Significance: It reminds societies to value happiness and well-being alongside economic growth for a balanced and fulfilling life.
Thought of the Day
“Difficult roads often lead to meaningful destinations.”
Meaning: Challenges and setbacks are not signs of failure, but part of the journey toward something valuable. The struggles you face today often shape stronger outcomes and deeper growth in the future.
