KATHUA: Security forces launched a massive search operation in Juthana area of Rajbagh in Kathua district late Thursday night after locals reported the presence of two suspected armed individuals.
According to official sources, the first alert was sounded around 9:45 p.m. when police received information from a local eyewitness in Jakhol area. The witness claimed to have seen two unidentified men, dressed in black and carrying weapons, moving in the locality around 9:30 p.m. However, no backpacks were noticed with them.
Soon after receiving the input, Jammu and Kashmir Police, assisted by security forces, rushed to the area and launched a cordon-and-search operation to track down the suspects. The locality was sealed off, and door-to-door searches were carried out to ensure that no movement goes unchecked.
Officials confirmed that searches were continuing till late night, with reinforcements deployed in sensitive pockets to prevent any untoward incident. The development has put security forces on high alert, given past instances of militant movements reported in parts of Kathua district.
