Jammu: Security forces launched a massive anti-terror hunt in Godhar Khalsa village of Reasi district on Monday after a local shopkeeper reported a late-night encounter with suspected persons in a nearby forest.

The eyewitness said the incident occurred around 1:55 am when he was returning home after closing his shop. He claimed that the suspected individuals stopped him, took some pears he was carrying, and told him to leave. “They didn’t harm me, but their presence was suspicious. I immediately informed the police,” he said.

Acting on the information, Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with other security agencies, cordoned off the village at first light and launched an intensive search operation to ensure any terrorist presence is traced and neutralised.

Godhar Khalsa, located on the Jammu–Poonch Highway, falls under Reasi district and not far from the LoC-facing Sunderbani sector — a route that has used for infiltration in the past as well.

According to sources after Operation Sindoor, which eliminated multiple terrorists launch pad and Airbases in Pakistan, forces have heightened surveillance in Jammu Kashmir and are carrying out aggressive search-and-destroy missions in suspected militant hideouts across Rajouri, Poonch, Reasi, and other vulnerable areas.

“Senior security forces officials said, The mission is clear — no movement corridor will be left unchecked. If terrorists are in the area, they will be traced and neutralised,” a senior police officer said.

The operation in Godhar Khalsa is ongoing, with additional reinforcements deployed and all exit routes sealed.
